Age UK starts fitness sessions in Burnham-On-Sea to help older residents stay healthy

-

A Burnham-On-Sea lady is set to bring a new exercise class to the town aimed at helping older people to keep moving and stay healthy.

Cheryl Mountford teaches Tai Chi and Qigong across the area and is leading the new ‘Extend, Movement to Music’ class for Age UK at the Bay Centre in Cassis Close, Burnham.

The class is suitable for older adults and it includes fun routines and exercises that can be completed either standing or seated to boost balance, circulation and co-ordination.

Julie Bolton, Age UK Somerset co-ordinator, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Being active has a positive effect on health at any age, but among older people doing more can have a huge impact.”

“We run over 100 classes across Somerset and participants say it is a great way to have fun, meet new people and feel fitter.”

The classes will take place at 2.30pm every Thursday at the Bay Centre with entry costing just £4 with no need to book. For more details call 01823 345626 or visit www.ageuksomerset.org.uk
