Burnham Police Beat Manager commended for community work

-

Burnham-On-Sea policeman Adrian Jones has been handed an award for his excellent work in the community.

Chief Superintendent John Snell of the Somerset West policing district has awarded the Burnham-based officer a District Commander’s commendation.

This is for “continuous good work this year, particular serving the local community as beat manager for North Burnham,” he said.

Apart from supporting victims and working closely with local organisations and residents, he has also been involved in a number of partnership initiatives.

This includes working with the probation service and the local town and district councils to set up a partnership for rehabilitating offenders to carry out local community improvements such as the removal of graffiti at Apex Park.

He also investigated an incident at Marine Cove in Burnham-on-Sea where £700 worth of damage was caused. Following enquiries, three youths were arrested. He has also forged links with the management and clients of the new drugs rehabilitation unit in Burnham. He was involved in the arrest of a man for a house burglary in Burnham-on-Sea. The man was subsequently charged with robbery and murder. He was also involved in the seizure of 40 cannabis plants from the East Huntspill area.

Chief Superintendent Snell said: “PC Jones is an inspiration to all his colleagues, achieving results through good old fashioned policing, which involves getting to know your local community and working with them and local partner organisations to achieve results.”
