A new Active Living Centre for residents over 50 is set to open in Highbridge next week.
The facility will launch on Tuesday 5th February at Morland Hall in Pearce Drive in Highbridge and will be hosted by the Stroke Club.
The opening ceremony will be at 10.30am and free refreshments to include a simple lunch will be provided.
Local residents over 50 are invited to come along and enjoy the many different kinds of activities on offer, as well as meet other people from the community.
“There will be an opportunity to let the organisers know what it is you would like to be involved in and to have your say in what the centre could provide,” said Sue Quatermass, Burnham and Highbridge Community Development Worker.
“The day will begin at 10.30 and end at 2pm and will give residents an opportunity to try easy, fun exercise and hear about taking care of our hearts and blood pressure.”
Volunteers from the Stroke Club, working with the newly formed Sedgemoor Community Partnership, have been supported by the Regeneration Partnership and Age Concern in developing the new Active Living Centre.
