A brand new Active Living Centre for residents over 50 opened in Highbridge on Tuesday (February 5th).
The facility, in Morland Hall, Pearce Drive, was officially opened during a ceremony attended by Highbridge County Councillor Rosemary Parsons, local PCSOs, members of the Stroke Club and Sue Quatermass, local Community Development Worker.
The centre caters for local residents over 50 and organises a wide variety of events activities which also give elderly people the chance to meet each other.
Sue Quatermass told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “There was an opportunity on the opening day for those in attendance to let the organisers know what it is they want to be involved in and to have their say about what the centre could provide.”
“Those who came along were able to try easy, fun exercise and hear about taking care of their hearts and blood pressure.”
Volunteers from the Stroke Club, working with the newly formed Sedgemoor Community Partnership, have been supported by the Regeneration Partnership and Age Concern in developing the new Active Living Centre.
