Burnham’s Swim and Sports Academy owners react to sale rumours

-

The owners of Burnham-On-Sea’s Swim and Sports Academy have this week dispelled rumours that the business is up for sale.

Mark and Sara Cox-Conklin, pictured, said they are bemused why the rumours have been circulating in the town in recent weeks.

Mark told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “I have heard the rumour several times recently, but we’re not sure why they have started because they are not correct.”

“I can confirm that the academy is not for sale and no interested buyers have approached us. We are committed to running the academy for the long-term.”

Mark and Sara saved the 35 year-old pool from closure in 2008 when they took over it from Sedgemoor District Council and re-launched it as the privately-run Burnham Swim and Sports Academy.

Last year, the academy won the coveted title of the UK’s Swim School of the Year. During its first year, the academy saw 350 children take lessons each week and it now has 967 students.
