A Burnham-On-Sea town centre street was cordoned off by police this morning (Thursday, December 24th) after the body of a man was found in a flat.
Scores of police were seen in Abingdon Street from 9am, as pictured here, as investigations into the grizzly discovery began.
Police taped off an area at the front of the Second Image tattoo shop.
Inspector Roger Tolley of Burnham Police told Burnham-On-Sea.com at the scene: “The body of a man in his 20s was found in a flat in Abingdon Street this morning.”
“We cannot confirm how he died until the post mortem has been carried out, however I would add that we are treating this incident very seriously.”
“We are keeping the public away and containing the scene.” He added that the street would remain sealed off until later today.
Police have appealed for anyone who was in the area around Abingdon Street early this morning or who has any information to come forward.
