Motorist injured in crash on A38 that caused Highbridge gridlock

A motorist was rushed to hospital after a crash on the A38 through West Huntspill on Monday morning.

The A38 Main Road through Huntspill was closed soon after 7am by Police in both directions between New Road and Church Road. It later re-opened.

A reader sent Burnham-On-Sea.com this mobile phone photo of the collision, saying that a car and motorbike had collided.

A spokesman for South Western Ambulance Service NHS Trust told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “A call was received at 6.55am to reports of a two vehicle collision.”

“One male patient was injured. We attended with one ambulance and a critical care paramedic, and a patient was taken to Southmead Hospital for treatment.”

Emergency services were at the scene and there was heavy traffic in the area.
