Inquest held into teenager’s death in crash near Burnham-On-Sea

-

An inquest into the death of 19-year-old Billy Davis, whose car burst into flames after crashing on the A370 in East Brent last September, has been held this week.

Somerset coroner Michael Rose issued a narrative verdict after considering the Weston teenager’s injuries following the crash in the early hours of September 18th, 2010.

Mr Rose said: “The deceased died when the BMW he was driving on the A370 Weston Road at East Brent left the carriageway at approximately 2.10am on 18th September and subsequently caught fire.”

“The accident would in all probability not have occurred if the driver had adhered to the speed limit, not consumed an excessive amount of alcohol and a speed camera near the scene had not been removed.”

He recorded that the cause of death had been due to “multiple injuries”.

Burnham-On-Sea.com reported last September that the road had been closed for several hours while emergency services were at the scene, pictured above.
