Fire crews called to eight-vehicle collision on the A370 at Lympsham

-

Emergency services were called to an eight-vehicle accident on the A370 between Burnham-On-Sea and Weston on Sunday evening.

Fire, police and ambulance crews were called at 5.04pm to the road outside the Hobbs Boat Inn in Lympsham.

“Crews confirmed this was an multi-vehicle collision, of which four were motorcyclists, with one person trapped and several casualties requiring medical assistance,” a fire spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“Crews made the area and vehicles safe and then used equipment to extricate a trapped casualty, who was medically, not physically, trapped.”

“Once extricated, the casualty was conveyed to hospital by air ambulance and the incident was left in the hands of the police.”

Two fire engines from Burnham, together with a fire appliance from Weston, attended.

The accident led to the road being closed and diversions being put in place by police during the evening.
