80-mile charity challenge for Burnham fundraiser Sonny Topham

-

A Burnham-On-Sea personal fitness instructor is set to take on an 80-mile extreme fitness challenge to raise funds for charity.

Sonny Topham will be jogging and walking 32 circuits of a 2.5-mile course around the top of Brean Down on September 7th with the aim of completing the non-stop challenge in less than 24 hours.

Taking to Burnham-On-Sea.com, Sonny said: “It will be my toughest challenge yet, completing 80 miles non-stop around Brean Down while raising money for a great cause, the Alzheimer’s Society. I estimate it will take 18-20 hours in total and it will be the same distance as driving from Burnham to Bournemouth, with over 10,000 feet of elevation!”

In 2017, we reported here that Sonny had completed a gruelling  challenge by walking up and down Brean Down 100 times in a day to raise money for a children’s charity and inspire others to conquer their personal goals. He is pictured above during the fundraiser.

And in July 2018, we reported here how he took on the challenge of walking and running ten circuits of a 10-mile route in a day around Burnham, Highbridge and Brent Knoll for Children’s Hospice South West.

Sonny welcomes support on the day, including from anyone who wants to complete loops with him during the event.
