Dozens of items will go under the hammer at a special auction being held in aid of Burnham-On-Sea’s Community Centre today (Saturday, October 17th).
The 50/50 auction will be held at the centre in Berrow Road to raise money for the ‘Save our Community Centre’ appeal.
Proceeds from each item sold will be split 50-50 between the person donating the item and the community centre.
Organisers say they are still keen to hear from anyone with items that can be sold at the event.
Items need to be registered at the Community Centre between 9am and 1pm on Saturday and a viewing period will be held from 1pm on the day. The auction, which is open to the general public, will start at 2pm.
“We need plenty of items to sell, and also plenty of people to come and buy!,” one of the organisers, Kath Hoyland, told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
She added that there are conditions regarding the types of items that can be entered. Electrical items, upholstered furniture and items of clothing can’t be accepted, and due to space restrictions, only items that may be carried by hand (ie no large furniture) may be entered into the sale.
