New 3D movies hailed a success at Burnham-On-Sea Ritz Cinema

-

The introduction of 3D movies at Burnham-On-Sea’s cinema has been hailed a success by its owners.

As first reported by Burnham-On-Sea.com last week, The Ritz in Victoria Street has invested £75,000 in a new state-of-the-art digital projector.

The first 3D film, blockbuster Avartar, was watched by film fans at the cinema on Friday (February 26th), as pictured here, with further screenings continuing this week.

Cinema owner Pat Scott, pictured, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We have been very busy the last few days – everyone thought the 3D technology was amazing!”

“3D is the current buzz word in the cinema world and we want The Ritz to be a part of it. We’re very excited to have bought this brand new digital projector.”

He added that viewers have to wear 3D glasses to fully enjoy the film, but they are more comfortable than the cheap ones from the 1980s.

Pat added: “They really do bring films alive and put you in the middle of film scenes. It’s quite incredible!”

The re-make of Alice In Wonderland will be shown in 3D next month at The Ritz and other films coming soon include How To Train Your Dragon, Toy Story 3 and Piranah.

Burnham’s Ritz Cinema is one of just a handful of cinemas across the west country with 3D installed. There are others in Barnstable, Bristol, Taunton and Truro.

The Ritz Cinema’s owners, Pat and Beryl Scott, first revealed the plans for a 3D projector to Burnham-On-Sea.com last year.
