Burnham group’s 1950s-themed fundraising night turns back time!

A 1950s theme party was held by a Burnham-On-Sea group to raise funds for good causes at the weekend.

Over 60 members of Burnham’s Moose International Lodge were swept back to the 1950s for the club’s annual Governor’s New Year’s Party on Saturday (February 7th).

Many jived and danced, while others sang along and foot-tapped to a line-up of rock’n roll numbers and ballads from Chris Evans’ 1950s disco.

Many got into the spirt of the occasion with 1950s-style fancy dress, winning prizes for the most authentic costumes.

Catering was provided by members of the club’s Social Committee with a full table buffet and licensed bar, plus the usual raffles helping the evening.

Moose Governor Mike Lang said: “It was a great evening and we thank all those involved for their hard work, including Chris Evans for the excellent entertainment and a demonstration of Jive dance moves.”

Ladies Circle President Doreen Atyeo also thanked those involved, saying that the club’s events are successful thanks to the teamwork within Moose.

All profits went towards supporting Alzheimer’s charities, with a separate whisky raffle raising £40 towards supporting RNLI flood rescue.
