Swift-incoming tides and thick beach mud have been catching out motorists along Burnham-On-Sea’s coastline for over 80 years – as these photos prove.
Burnham-On-Sea.com Pat Pusill reader has sent us these photos of a rescue attempt in the 1930s on Berrow Beach.
A crowd of people are pictured atempting to haul the stranded car out of the mud before the tide reaches it but, as seen so many times over the decades, their efforts were in vain and the vehicle was swamped by the tide.
“It just goes to show that nothing changes!” says Pat. Her comments come just a week after a car was lost on the same stretch of beach at Berrow.
