This 11 year-old dessert pot was found during a beach clean in Burnham-On-Sea on Saturday (October 20th), serving as a fresh reminder about how long plastics can take to decay in the sea.
It comes after Burnham-On-Sea.com recently reported that a 47 year-old Fairy washing up bottle had washed up on Brean beach.
The Muller Rice pot dated from 2007 was found during Saturday’s beach-clean in Burnham, attended by 35 volunteers.
“The group included 15 ‘first timers’ and it was good to see several children having a go too,” said organiser Mark Hollidge from the Friends of Burnham Beach.
“There was a lot of small items of waste today such as cotton bud sticks and less of the larger stuff.”
“We collected 20bags in blissful sunshine as well as a couple of car wheels and a bodyboard which was perfectly intact and usable. I wonder what happened to the person who was last riding on it!”
The next beach clean in Burnham-On-Sea takes place on November 24th when all will be welcome.
