Warning as Storm Freya brings ‘damaging winds’ to Burnham-On-Sea area today

The Met Office has issued a weather warning for the Burnham-On-Sea area today (Sunday) as Storm Freya sweeps in with ‘damaging winds’ gusting up to 60mph.

A yellow warning has been issued for the area from 3pm on Sunday March 3rd through to 6am on Monday March 4th.

Strong winds from the south west are forcast to pick up from 5pm today in the Burnham-On-Sea area, peaking between 7-9pm, with strong gusts predicted.

“Storm Freya will bring very strong winds, with some travel disruption and possible dangerous conditions late Sunday and into Monday,” said a spokesman.

“Injuries from flying debris are possible. Some damage to buildings and trees, such as tiles blown from roofs and fallen branches, could happen.”

“Travel may be affected, with longer journey times and cancellations possible.”
