An updated warning for snow has been issued for the Burnham-On-Sea area with up to 7 centimetres forecast to fall today Thursday (January 31st).
The Met Office has issued a new amber warning for snow and ice for the region, which comes into force this afternoon from 2pm and runs until 9pm this evening.
It says “snow and ice may bring disruption” and snowfall is possible in Burnham from 2pm onwards, with 3-7cm of snow possible within three hours.
BBC forecaster Ian Fergusson is shown below with the forecast map at 5pm.
Burnham-On-Sea will see a minimum temperature of -3°C and a high of just 3°C over the next 24 hours.
The Met Office says: “A band of rain will arrive from the south west, quickly turning to snow and becoming heavy at times. 3 to 7 centimetres is likely to accumulate quickly within two to three hours, with up to 10cm in some places.”
These were the frosty scenes at Apex Park this morning following overnight temperatures of -4c.
The Met Office adds: “Snow amounts will vary markedly across England and Wales with many places seeing very little accumulating snow.”
“With cold air in place along with areas of rain and snow icy stretches are likely to form.”
