Met Office warns of sleet and light snow for Burnham-On-Sea area this evening

-

Burnham-On-Sea could see a mixture of sleet and light snow this evening (Tuesday, January 29th) when a band of wintry weather arrives.

The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for snow and ice across the region, with slippery road conditions.

The Met Office’s Burnham-On-Sea weather forecast predicts that sleet or light snow will fall between 5pm-8pm. There is also a chance of snow in the Burnham area on Thursday and Friday.

“A band of rain pushing east across parts of England is likely to turn to snow during Tuesday evening,” says the Met Office.  “Accumulations of 1-3 cm are likely quite widely. As this clears, ice is likely to form on some surfaces on Wednesday morning.”

The yellow weather warning is in force from 12 noon on Tuesday until 11am on Wednesday.

BBC Points weather forecaster Ian Fergusson adds: “It will be rain initially but with cold air tucking in behind there will be a risk of some sleet and snow.”

“There will be showery rain in the course of Tuesday morning, then as we get into the afternoon, in comes the front. Even at lower levels there is a patchy chance of seeing a little snow developing, but it’s in the uplands and higher levels that there is a higher likelihood of perhaps a few centimetres of snow in some areas.”

“There is a possibility of some disruption. The risk of ice will be widespread.”

There is a further risk of snowfall in our area on Thursday when more heavier snowfall is a possibility.
