More Information
Somewhere House Somerset is a therapeutic charity for the local community. Anyone who is looking to get help and support can access a variety of services including professional counselling, educational workshops and community projects.
Counselling
We meet with adults, children, families or couples (within the Burnham-On-Sea area or furtherafield in the surrounding villages) who are wanting counselling to deal with any mental or emotional issues they are experiencing. We provide a safe place for people to explore deeply personal feelings and our goal is to help people realise their potential whilst bringing about positive changes in their lives; giving them a new perspective so they can make better and more informed choices.
We are experts is in addiction, but our counsellors have a wealth of experience working with a variety of mental health and emotional issues including: trauma, abuse (mental & physical), self-harm, anxiety, PTSD, eating disorders, suicide ideation, family conflict etc.
All our counsellors are qualified to a level 4 or above in counselling and psychotherapy, are insured adequately, and are members of the BACP. Clients pay a donation towards their counselling, which can be anything from £0.50 upwards and we do this as a measure to protect their mental and emotional wellbeing, as well as making sure they get access to help quickly and with ease.
If you there is someone you would like to refer to our service please contact us on the following details. We will have an initial telephone consultation with the client to make sure we can meet their needs. We also do accept self-referrals.

Educational Workshops
We run workshops in local schools and colleges to educate young adults and children on the risks of substance abuse. These talks have become extremely popular and have a high impact, especially as we have volunteers who freely give their time to come and share their deeply personal stories of a life in addiction. Our goal is to provide young people with accurate information so they can make informed choices that are based on facts.
We are happy to tailor a workshop based on needs – this could be for example: bullying, cyber bullying, building self-esteem and self-worth etc.
Community
We run Coffee & Chat mornings and engage with our local community to connect people and to help build relationships and to create a supportive and thriving community. These take place at the Baptist Church in Burnham-On-Sea, on the last Saturday of the month, 11am – 1pm. Please feel free to drop in.
We also run community projects to help build relationships and create a supportive environment. We do have a 5-a-side footie league that gets together every Monday night to have some fun. We are always open to ideas and if you would like to get involved or volunteer then please feel free to get in touch.
