Wildlife carers in the Burnham-On-Sea area have been looking after sea birds blown ashore during last week’s gales.
Two gannets were recovered in Burnham and Lympsham at the weekend after being brought to Secret World Wildlife Rescue Centre in East Huntspill.
One of the birds was released from Brean Down on Sunday (May 12th), as pictured here, after being given the ‘all clear’ by the centre’s carers.
“The birds were blown ashore during last week’s unseasonal high winds. One of the gannets found in Burnham was in a good shape and we successfully released it but the Lympsham bird is underweight and will need more time,” Secret World’s Amy Middleton told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
Last week’s high winds saw gusts of up to 60mph sweeping through the Burnham area, as reported here.
