Glazing firm in Burnham-On-Sea town centre goes into liquidation

-

A long-established Burnham-On-Sea glazing company has gone into liquidation, it was announced on Thursday.

Burnham Glass and Windows Ltd, based at 57b Victoria Street, is in the hands of accountants Mazars.

The firm had three employees and specialised in replacement glass, windows and conservatories, carrying out work for both commercial clients and the general public. But trade was hit by the UK’s difficult economic climate.

Tim Ball, restructuring services partner at the Bristol office, has been appointed liquidator.

He told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “On the commercial side, they typically supplied building contractors with windows for new homes developments, but orders dropped off dramatically. Meanwhile, the poor state of trade saw work for the general public also decline.”

Debts were built up with HM Revenue & Customs, who eventually took action to wind up the firm, prompting the liquidation.

The business and assets were earlier this year transferred to a new company, Beach View Glass Ltd, which continues to trade. It now employs the three staff who were with the old company.
