Supporters of The Alzheimer’s Society pulled on their walking boots to take part in the charity’s annual sponsored walk from Burnham-On-Sea to Brean on Sunday (May 19th).
Now in its 10th year, the Brean Beach Walk attracted over 20 walkers, who started on the seafront next to Burnham Pier and followed a route along the beach to Berrow and Brean Cove, before returning.
Organiser Mike Barsby told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The walk was again well supported and proved a fun event, attracting people of all ages and abilities. We hope to have raised a good sum for The Alzheimer’s Society.”
“Alzheimer’s can affect anyone – statistics show that 1 in 4 people know or have known someone with Alzheimer’s or Dementia. In my case, it was my Mum, Joyce, whose memory deteriorated so badly that in the last years of her life she could not recognise her close family.”
