These were the dramatic scenes visible from Brean Down on Wednesday evening (September 29th) as fire crews tackled a huge blaze at a hotel in Weston-super-Mare.
More than 30 firefighters were called to the Royal Pier Hotel, which is not in use, in Birnbeck Road just before 6pm.
Several other buildings, including hotels, flats and a restaurant were evacuated as a precaution.
Thick smoke from Wednesday’s fire was visible across the Brean and north Burnham-On-Sea area.
Eight fire engines were at the scene tackling the blaze, which follows a similiar fire at the same building in June 2009.
