This stark sign in the window of a clothing shop in the centre of Burnham-On-Sea explained the fate of the business this week.
DP Menswear in the High Street closed its shutters for the final time on Wednesday after seven years of business.
Owner Dennis Preedy said shutting the store had been a difficult decision to take.
“It was a sad day for me – but this is what happens if shoppers don’t support small independent businesses, ” he told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
“People just don’t seem to have the money these days and there was sadly no other option for us but to close down.”
He thanked those customers who had supported him over the past seven years.
Dennis added that he has found a seasonal job in Brean over the summer months.
