As Burnham-On-Sea’s Christmas skating rink enters its final few days, the organisers have this week said they hope to bring a rink back to the town next year.
The synthetic skating rink set up in Burnham’s Lynton Road car park has attracted “a steady flow” of visitors since opening at the start of December.
It is open this week on Wednesday December 30th from 10am-5pm, Thursday December 31st from 10am-5pm, closed on Friday, then open on Saturday January 2nd from 10am-7pm and Sunday January 3rd from 10am-6pm.
Kathy Jones, Chairman of Burnham Events Social Team, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The rink has gone well – the weekends have been busier for us than the weekdays, but we have not had any really quiet periods. We’re pleased with how it’s gone.”
“It’s therefore looking encouraging for next year and we hope to bring a skating rink back to Burnham for Christmas 2016.”
The organisers secured £16,000 of grant funding from the Town Council to enable the skating rink to go ahead this year. They are due to report back to the council in February with how it has performed financially.
