A charity cycle ride is to be held next month in memory of a Brent Knoll man who died after losing a three-year battle with a lung condition.
Chris Evans, who lived in the area for 25 years, passed away two years ago while awaiting a double lung transplant.
Now, his family and friends in the village are organising a bike ride, starting from outside The Red Cow pub on July 14th at 11am, to raise money for The British Lung Foundation.
The 26-mile route will take cyclists across the Somerset Levels to Godney, returning to The Red Cow for a barbecue later in the afternoon.
Chris’ daughter, Jenny, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Chris often went along to the Red Cow and with their kind support, and the support of our many friends, we are organising this event.”
“Last year we raised over £1,600 and had over 50 cyclists and over 100 people at the barbecue. We are hoping to beat this figure at this year’s event.”
Entry tickets cost £10 per adult and £6 per child and are available from The Red Cow or the village’s Post Office until July 6th.
