King Alfred ABC boxing night watched by big crowd

A night of bruising boxing action was watched by more than 200 people in Burnham-On-Sea on Saturday evening.

King Alfred Amateur Boxing Club hosted a line-up of 16 bouts featuring the best of Burnham’s up-and-coming boxers.

Organisers Andy Churches and Roger Cross, pictured with some of the town’s boxers in the background, said the event had been successful.

“We expect to have raised more than £1,500 for the club’s funds,” Roger told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

Held in King Alfred School, the event was watched by WBU Cruiserweight World Champion Enzo Maccarinelli (pictured right).

The popular boxer is Honourary President of King Alfred Amateur Boxing Club, and is a keen supporter of local boxing.

Saturday’s event included fighters from across the south west, including King Alfred ABC, Watchet, Titans boxing club, Sydenham, Blackbird Leys, Sturminster, Avalon ABC, Weston, Taibach ABC, Penhill, Blaemymaes, Bonynaen, Lydney and Empire ABC.
