Fire crews rush to Brean as trapped Range Rover sparks fresh alarm

-

Four fire crews rushed to Brean on Thursday evening (June 1st) amid concerns that a vehicle had become stuck in the mud – but it turned out to be the Range Rover pictured above, which has been there since April.

A tourist visiting the beach spotted the vehicle half a mile from the shore and, fearing that it had only just got into difficulties, dialled 999.

Fire crews from across the area raced to the scene shortly before 6.30pm, but they were stood down shortly afterwards when it was confirmed that the vehicle had in fact been there for six weeks.

A Somerset Fire Brigade spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Fortunately, this was a false alarm. We worked closely with the Coastguard and Beach Warden, who confirmed that the vehicle had in fact been there for some time.”

The Range Rover is likely be left at the scene because it has sunk so deeply into the mud.
