Highbridge floristry students show blossoming talent at competition

-

A group of Highbridge floristry students have been showing their blossoming talents by competing in a national competition.

The group – who are studying at Bridgwater College – entered the 2013 WorldSkills Floristy Competition, held in Dorchester.

The four students competed against other local colleges, Bicton, Kingston Maurward and Wiltshire, in the intermediate and advanced classes.

Student Sharon Bell, from Highbridge gained second place in the intermediate round and Amanda Trott, also from Highbridge, came second in the advanced section.

The students will now have a nervous wait to hear whether they have been put forward for the semi-finals later this year.

Sharon told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Competing in the WorldSkills competition was a fantastic opportunity and gaining second place in the regional heats reflected on the brilliant teaching that I have received from my tutor at Bridgwater College.”
