Mayoress launches Burnham-On-Sea’s poppy campaign

-

Burnham-On-Sea’s Mayoress has this week launched the town’s annual poppy appeal.

Maria Clarke was the special guest at Tuesday’s event, organised by members of Burnham’s Royal British Legion at their HQ in Victoria Street.

Poppy collectors will be seen across the town during the coming days in the run-up to the annual Remembrance Day commemorations.

The Mayoress told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It was a great honour to launch the Poppy Appeal in Burnham and see all the work that goes on behind the scenes by the Legion’s volunteers in the run-up to Remembrance Day.”

“I would urge local people to dig deep and buy a poppy to help with the fundraising.”

The Legion is always keen to hear from local people wanting to help as Poppy sellers – volunteers can call in at the Legion’s shop in Victoria Street or call 01278 780146.
