Police appeal for new volunteers to run Highbridge’s popular pod

-

Police in Highbridge have this week appealed for more volunteers to come forward to help run the town’s popular information pod.

Since opening in April last year, the pod in the car park of the town’s Asda supermarket has dealt with over 1,000 enquiries and reports.

But people’s circumstances change and a fresh influx of volunteers is therefore needed to work alongside the Highbridge beat team to keep it running.

Police have re-advertised the volunteering role this week in the hope that people will step forward and offer their time.

“The role is extremely flexible and involves supporting crime prevention initiatives, property marking and speaking with members of the public, passing advice and liaising with the Beat Team for action where necessary,” PCSO Claire Finch told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“Volunteering provides a unique opportunity for individuals to use their skills, experience and local knowledge to make a positive contribution to their community by supporting the work of the constabulary.”

“The Highbridge Beat Team are thrilled with the positive impact the Pod has had on our community and would like to thank the volunteers, past and present, for all the hard work and dedication they have shown in helping to make the Pod a success.”

Anyone who feels they could help at the pod should get in touch by calling 0845 456 7000 or filling in the job advert online here.
