Burnham-On-Sea building company celebrates contract win

-

A Burnham-On-Sea building company is celebrating after being named on a list of seven local companies to benefit from a multi-million pound building and maintenance scheme run by Somerset County Council.

Boley & Skuse was named on Tuesday (June 27th) as one of the preferred suppliers for work involved in a new repair and maintenance system being launched across the county.

The new system will use area-based contracts so that local and regional businesses are used across Somerset.

The contracts are for building, mechanical and electrical maintenance that will be delivered by a total of seven contractors, which will account for a significant proportion of the council’s total maintenance spend of £5million per year.

The Property Services Department at Somerset County Council manages 638 properties across the county from schools, libraries and fire stations to museums and a range of adult and child care centres.

Sam Crabb, Somerset County Council’s Portfolio Holder for Resources, said: “These new arrangements are the result of a fundamental review of the way that the council looks after its buildings. We have listened to our building users and designed a system that addressees their key concerns as well as achieving significant cost savings for Somerset County Council and council tax payers.”
