Vampires Suck:
If I was to say this film was made by the same people who made “Epic Movie” and “Meet the Spartans,” then I think that would make most peoples minds up about whether or not to come and see it!
“Vampires Suck” is basically just a big spoof of the “Twilight” saga. It’s jam packed with naff jokes about gay werewolves and the creatively renamed “Sullens.” This film has received massively negative reviews but to start with I actually enjoyed it! That was only until though the jokes got old and predictable. However the film did raise laughs, my twelve year old brother was howling through the werewolf packs rendition of “It’s Raining Men.”
Once you’ve seen the trailer though you’ve basically seen the whole film. Although the film has a 12A certificate I wouldn’t recommend taking children under twelve to this film as it includes frequent strong language and sexual references.
So if this kind of thing is your cup of tea then I’m sure you’ll think this is hilarious, but otherwise it’s a tedious eighty eight minutes which could be better spent.
Legends of the Guardian – The Owls of Ga’hoole:
When barn owls Soren and brother Kludd are kidnapped, they are taken to the sinister fortress of the “Pure Ones.” Enslaved by the evil rulers, Soren, betrayed by his brother, takes young owl Gylfie under his wing. They must learn to fly to find the legendary guardians and with weak wings but strong spirit, embark on their epic quest to save the whole of owlkind.
The animation for this film is immaculate. From each single feather to every fleck in the eyes, the animation is so detailed and realistic its hard not to be dazzled by the stunning images. From the people who made the visual effects for “Happy Feet,” some of the scenes are truely breathtaking as you witness the owls swoop through incredible elements and partake in awesome fight scenes.
There is something for everyone to enjoy here. Although children may struggle to understand the dark storyline to it’s entirety, they will pick up on the general plot of good versus evil and the theme of loyalty. Also all generations will love the amazing visuals. This film really earns its four stars and will have you gripped from beginning to end.
