A group of Highbridge pupils have visited Bristol Zoo for a day of animal learning.
The Year 12 and 13 students from King Alfred School visited the city’s zoo for a fascinating lecture which involved observing many types of animal behaviour.
“The pupils studied meal worms directly for their innate behaviours. Students role-played latent learning in Mountain Lions and operant conditioning in seals. They were also tested in groups for their own problem solving behaviours,” said a spokesman.
“One of the highlights of the session was holding giant land snails and analysing them for their habituation behaviour.”
“This was followed closely by touching a Coral Snake and discussing its mimicry of a dangerous species.”
