Burnham-On-Sea’s Mayor and Mayoress were among 200 dignitaries, representatives of local groups and residents who gathered at Burnham-On-Sea’s war memorial on Sunday morning (November 14th) to mark Remembrance Day.
The Burnham and District branch of The Royal British Legion organised the Remembrance parade and service, which included the laying of 20 wreaths at the War Memorial besides the town’s hospital in Love Lane.
Two minutes’ silence was held at exactly 11am followed by the playing of the Last Post by buglar Phil Farr-Cox. A short service was led by Reverend Eric Petrie that ended with a recording of Winston Churchill’s famous war speech being played.
