Driver injured in rush-hour accident in Burnham-On-Sea

The damaged carA motorist was rushed to hospital on Wednesday evening (July 26th) after a rush-hour accident in Burnham-On-Sea.

The driver of a red Fiat Punto collided with a parked van near to the town’s Catholic Church on Burnham Road at around 6pm.

A toddler who was also travelling in the car was believed to be unhurt.

Police diverted traffic around the incident and briefly closed the road while the wreckage was taken away. It is the second accident along Burnham Road in just three days after a multi-car shunt further along the road on Monday.

Eyewitness Jason Lewis, who was in the parked van shortly before the accident, said: “I’d only just got out when I heard a very loud bang and saw the car had gone into the back of the van. It was a horrible moment.”
