Sand yachting championships run out of puff at Brean!

-

Calm weather led to the UK’s National Sand Yachting Championships being cancelled on Brean Beach this weekend.

The two-day event began on Saturday morning and although the light winds initially allowed two races to be completed – as pictured here – but the rest of the regatta’s action was halted by the calm conditions.

Mike Young, Chairman of Brean Sand Yachting Club told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We had more than 30 of the UK’s leading sand yachters in Brean, all vying for a place in the British team, so it was a disappointment that the weather halted the event.”

“Our next sand yachting regatta will be held at Brean in March when fingers will be crossed for windier weather.”

Light winds allowed Brean’s sand yachting championships to initially go ahead on Saturday, as pictured, before the calm weather arrived
