Classic steam train gives Highbridge a blast from the past!

-

Highbridge residents quite literally got a blast from the past on Sunday evening (July 30th) when a classic steam train thundered through the town’s railway station.

The traditional steam whistle on the ‘King Edward 1’ Great Western locomotive was blown as it entered the station, making its way to Bristol Temple Meads from Paignton.

Historic steam trains will be travelling through Highbridge every Sunday during August and Sepember at around 9.55am and 8.30pm when they ferry passengers to the South Coast.

The King Edward 1 is made up solely of 1950’s-designed carriages with large windows that enable those onboard to enjoy the sights and sounds of yesteryear.
