Modern new playground facilities have been unveiled at a school near Burnham-On-Sea, thanks to £30,000 of funding from the National Lottery.
East Brent C of E First School received the cash from Sport England’s National Lottery funded Primary School Facilities Fund which is helping more schools to provide outdoor multi-activity play areas across the country.
The investment has gone towards completely updating and revamping the current playground.
A spokeswoman said: “We are absolutely thrilled with this superb new space. The softer ball rebound playground surface with activity markings, enclosures and hoops and goals have revolutionised play times for our children.”
“The original funding bid included a range of ideas which all came directly from the children. One of the areas we now have is a multi-sports pitch which the children make great use of.”
“The older children are able to play netball or basketball or even cricket, whilst the younger children are happily using the football goal areas, as these are the perfect size for playing hide and seek in.”
“Because of the great co-operative atmosphere we have in our school the children are able to play all these games at the same time! It is truly a great use of space.”
