Burnham-On-Sea visit brightens lives of Chernobyl children

-

A group of children living in the shadow of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, which blew up in 1986, enjoyed a visit to Burnham-On-Sea on Thursday (July 11th).

The trip to the town’s beach and seafront included a pre-arranged visit to the BARB rescue hovercraft station where they met the charity’s volunteers and were able to get onboard the life-saving crafts.

The group is currently visiting Somerset from the Belarus area, close to the Chernobyl border, which is a landlocked country, so for some of the youngsters it has been the first time they have ever seen the sea.
