Sedgemoor’s Citizens Advice Bureau, which provides help to people in Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge, is appealing for people to vote for it during ITV’s People’s Millions competition today (Tuesday, November 23rd) to help it secure £50,000 of lottery funding.
The CAB is a local charity that provides free advice, with 4,500 local people receiving help last year on a whole range of issues.
It has been short-listed to feature in The People’s Millions competition, a partnership between the Big Lottery Fund and ITV, where the public decides which local community projects get up to £50,000 of lotto cash.
“Winning this grant would mean that we would be able to help a lot more people and also offer more places for volunteers in the future,” a spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
“We desperately need to refurbish the bureau to make it a much better place for people to visit and to provide more workstations for the advisers to use. We will have the capacity to help up to a thousand more people than at present within twelve months of the refurbishment.”
“Many people will have used the CAB or know family or friends who have, but none of us knows what the future holds for us so please vote for our project, which is called ‘Refreshing The Face of Advice’, so that we can help a lot more people, a lot more quickly in the future.
To vote for Sedgemoor CAB in the People’s Millions, call 0871 62 68 132 between 9am and midnight today. More details are available here.
