Leader of Burnham ‘leave EU’ group criticises David Cameron’s deal

-

The Burnham-On-Sea leader of a pressure group campaigning for people to vote against staying in the European Union has spoken out against David Cameron’s EU deal.

Helen Hims, who was Burnham’s UKIP parliamentary candidate in last year’s General Election and is leading the local ‘Sedgemoor Leave.EU’ group has attacked the Prime Minister’s deal.

Helen said: “David Cameron has returned from his marathon talks in Brussels with no new treaties, no powers or sovereignty returned, European Court of Justice still in charge, £350 million a week still paid to Brussels, and no increase of border controls.”

“Nothing in his deal is legally binding and can be ripped up by EU politicians and unelected judges, and to be honest I quite expect they will do exactly that.”

“The EU is built to keep power and control with the elites rather than the people. If, at our one and only chance to get a new deal, these small concessions are all Cameron could secure “before” we vote; imagine how we will be treated if we vote to stay!”

She added: “There is absolutely no doubt the UK would be freer, fairer and better off outside the EU. We can lead and show the rest of Europe the way to flourish.”

“The date is set for the vote – June 23rd. What a lovely time of year to hold our ‘Independence Day’ celebrations for years to come!”
