Burnham and Highbridge residents are being encouraged to vote for the ‘best on the beat’ with the launch of the annual Neighbourhood Policing Awards.
Police and Crime Commissioner Sue Mountstevens and Chief Constable Nick Gargan are asking for the public’s help to find the best neighbourhood police officers, staff, volunteers and teams.
The awards recognise the outstanding work of Neighbourhood Policing teams and individuals in several categories – Neighbourhood Beat Team of the Year, Neighbourhood Beat Manager of the Year; PCSO (Police Community Support Officer) of the Year; Special Constable of the Year; Volunteer of the Year and the Outstanding Customer Service Award.
Chief Constable Nick Gargan said: “Day in, day out, officers in Avon and Somerset are doing their best to make sure the communities they serve are safe and feel safe. The Neighbourhood Policing Awards are a fantastic opportunity for local people to show their support and recognition for that work.”
“If you know a police officer, PCSO, special constable or neighbourhood team who has helped you to feel safe in your home or area, perhaps by tackling a problem which matters to you, then please nominate them for these awards.”
To nominate visit www.neighbourhoodpolicingawards.co.uk before the closing date of Sunday August 4th, 2013.
After this date an independent panel will select winners across the policing districts and an awards ceremony will be held on October 24th where an overall force winner for each category will be announced.
