-

An 11-year-old girl was rushed to hospital in an air ambulance on Thursday afternoon (September 14th) after being struck by a vehicle in the centre of Brean, near Burnham-On-Sea.

The young girl was walking with an eight-year-old friend along Coast Road, near to the Pontins holiday centre, when she was apparently struck by a Freelander vehicle.

The incident took place at around 2.15pm and both police and paramedics were quickly on the scene.

A spokesman for Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We received an urgent call to launch the helicopter to take an injured girl to Weston General Hospital.”

“She’d suffered leg injuries in the accident, but she is not thought to be in a serious condition.”

Police are appealing for witnesses to contact them on 08454 567000.
