The possibility of autumn hosepipe restrictions being introduced in Burnham remains very low despite falling reservoir levels in our area, Bristol Water said this week.
Spokesman Jeremy Williams told Burnham-On-Sea.com that Cheddar Reservoir (pictured), which supplies Burnham and Highbridge, is now just 62% full – down from 86% full in July.
It follows a dry June when rainfall totalled 40.4 mm, or 63% of the average, and a similarly dry August when rainfall was 54 mm or 70% of the expected amount.
“Bristol Water remains confident that there will be no water use restrictions in its supply area, unlike those imposed in other areas of the country. There have been no hosepipe bans in this area since 1990,” said Mr Williams.
