Staff members from the Highbridge-based National Blind Childrens Society this week experienced at first hand how different life would be if they were blind or visually impaired.
In an exercise to mark this Thursday’s World Sight Day on October 12th, the NBCS staff took part in a blindfolded walk along Burnham-On-Sea’s seafront, as pictured above.
One staff member wore a blindfold while the other became their guide and after walking for a while, the roles were reversed.
“All the staff who took part agreed that it was a memorable experience and they could not imagine how different life would be if they had a visual impairment. The experience was humbling and made our staff realise just how lucky they are,” said a spokeswoman for the charity.
The National Blind Childrens Society enables blind and partially-sighted children to obtain their educational and recreational goals.
