Tenants at Homes in Sedgemoor’s supported housing scheme in Burnham-On-Sea have marked its 21st birthday this week with a special celebration.
The scheme at Elizabeth Court provides 42 flats for elderly people with support needs.
Chief Executive of Homes in Sedgemoor Dawn Lang and the Leader of Sedgemoor District Council Duncan McGinty were among those invited along to mark the milestone.
Staff members Angela Macbeth, Janet Baggs and Leslie Hewlitt – who have worked at the scheme for the last 21 years – were thanked for their involvement.
Joan Southern, one of the original residents who still lives there, said: “It was a very enjoyable day, everyone seemed happy and lots of tenants attended, all of whom enjoyed themselves”
Also present was John Thomson, who worked for Sedgemoor District Council but is now Chief Executive of Sedgemoor Housing Association, and was at the opening of the building 21 years ago.
Chief Executive of Homes in Sedgemoor Dawn Lang added: “This extra care scheme has a wonderful community spirit and is clearly a brilliant place to live and work. It has been lovely to see everyone enjoying themselves.”
