Burnham-On-Sea Library holds popular summer reading challenge

-

Dozens of children in Burnham-On-Sea are taking part in a summer reading challenge.

Burnham Library in Princess Street is one of several libraries across Somerset encouraging youngsters to take part and boost their reading skills.

Families can sign up for free at the library to keep children occupied during the summer holidays.

“Once signed up, children are being challenged to read six books or more during the summer holidays, collecting stickers as they progress,” Nadja McDevitt, Senior Library Assistant at Burnham Library, told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“Information books, story books, poems, picture books, audio books – it’s up to them which they choose. As long as the books are borrowed from the library, the choice is theirs.”

All children who complete the challenge by 14th September will be rewarded with a fantastic gold-style medal and certificate.

They will also be entered into a free prize draw for a chance to win a Kobo eReader or ‘your age in books’. Terms and conditions apply. For details, including free events and activities, and opening hours please click here.
