A Burnham-On-Sea family is celebrating after winning the UK’s water ski championships across several age categories.
Steve Bird has won the UK Formula One Sprint Championships while his two daughters have performed superbly to also finish in the top two.
Lauren, 11, right, has won the class for children aged under 12 while Hannah, 14, has finished second overall in the class for under 16 racers.
Steve, who clinched the title after winning four out of six water races on this year’s UK water skiing circuit, said is now preparing to compete at next month’s world championships.
Steve, a long-time water skiing enthusiast, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “I’m delighted to have had such a great season and I’m really looking forward to taking part in the world championships in Tenerife in a couple of weeks time.”
Wife Cathy added: “We’re delighted that Steve has won the UK title – the girls have also had a great season in their first year of competion.”
Steve will be competing for the world title from September 5th-15th, where each water skiing team will take part in four hour-long races in rough seas.
