The highest number of entries for almost 15 years will take part in Monday’s 2006 Burnham-On-Sea Carnival.
A total of 103 entries are ready to take part in the annual procession, which gets underway at 7.30pm from Love Lane before wending its way through the town to Marine Drive.
“We have a lot of masqueraders – or walkers – taking part this year, along with an excellent line-up of carnival floats from across the county,” Carnival Secretary Doreen Atyo told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
“It’s the largest number of entries I remember for at least 13 years.”
“Highbridge Young Farmers, Hillview Carnival Club and a Highbridge dance club are among the local entries. If the weather holds and people dig into their pockets to give generously, it should be a great night.”
Each carnival club will be doing its best not only to entertain but to impress the 60 judges and win one of the 40 prizes up for grabs.
There will also be 80 charity collectors weaving beside the parade, urging the crowds to dig deep in order to try and beat the £6,400 raised last year.
